A well-timed Safety Car helped Kimi Antonelli to back-to-back wins and made him the youngest driver ever to lead the championship.

Antonelli started from pole but too much wheelspin dropped him to sixth. Oscar Piastri led early, George Russell fought him for the front, and when Russell pitted on Lap 22, Antonelli inherited the lead.
Moments later Ollie Bearman crashed heavily at Spoon after closing quickly on Franco Colapinto. The Safety Car gave Antonelli a cheap stop onto hard tires, and he controlled the restart to win by 13.7 seconds. Bearman was taken to the medical center for precautionary checks.
He finished fourth after Charles Leclerc went around the outside of him at Turn 1 late on, and complained on the radio about when the Safety Car came out.
Piastri's second place and Norris's fifth gave the team its first podium of the year after the Shanghai double failure.
Leclerc and Hamilton swapped places more than once. Leclerc took the podium and Hamilton dropped to sixth after Norris passed him on the penultimate lap.
