What happened

Lando Norris kept the lead into Turn 1 from pole but ran wide at Turn 2 and let Oscar Piastri through. Piastri later had contact with Carlos Sainz and eventually retired on Lap 56.

Norris pitted on Lap 39, passed Kimi Antonelli for the lead on Lap 46, and made his final stop under a Virtual Safety Car to win by 15 seconds. Max Verstappen took second after a late fight with Lewis Hamilton, who dropped to fifth with a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane.

Why it matters

Russell's recovery

An anti-stall at the start left him 21st. He fought back to seventh.

Verstappen's form is building

A second podium in four races, and another close fight with Hamilton.

The leader keeps scoring

Antonelli's third place pushed his lead to 50 points heading into the summer break.
